immunotherapy

Treatment Method

Cellular immunotherapy uses the body’s own immune cells to treat tumorous, autoimmune, or regenerative disease processes. Different types of immune cells can be used in this approach. In the cleanroom of our veterinary practice for immunotherapy, we use dendritic cells, whose existence and function were first described in 1973 by the Canadian immunologist Prof. Ralph M. Steinman (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, 2011) and his research team. Dendritic cells play a central role in the body by regulating the immune system. They are capable of taking up components (antigens) from cancer cells and presenting them to the immune system’s defense cells in order to specifically destroy cancer cells. Dendritic cells also play a role in autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disease processes by modulating the body’s destructive immune response. Thus, dendritic cell therapy is a gentle and innovative method that aims to strengthen your four-legged patient’s own immune defenses and promote natural healing processes.
